About us.
We are WaterAid. We work towards a world with clean water, decent toilets and good hygiene for everyone, everywhere. Vulnerable communities worldwide, especially women and girls, are hit hard by climate change and the lack of safe drinking water and toilets.
As WaterAid Netherlands, we build on the strong foundation of Simavi, with more than a century of experience in water, sanitation and equal opportunities for women and girls. WaterAid works on sustainable solutions in Africa, Asia and South America.
Our history
WaterAid Netherlands builds on the work of Simavi, founded in 1925 by Hubertus and Louise Leonore Bervoets.
Our approach
We work with communities to achieve sustainable solutions for water, sanitation and hygiene that work for everybody.
Where we work
WaterAid is active in Africa, Asia and South America. There we work together with governments, partners and communities on structural solutions.
Our programmes
Our programmes focus on water and sanitation in climate-vulnerable regions in countries such as Bangladesh, Nepal, Indonesia, Uganda and Kenya.
