Simavi publishes Impact Report 2024

Article: 04.06.25, Amsterdam

Curious about why Simavi visited the UN Special Rapporteur on Water and Sanitation in 2024? How we helped women lobby for better water facilities in Bangladesh, and supported schoolgirls in Uganda to claim their right to water? You can read all about it in the brand-new Impact Report.

Real impact for women and girls

Worldwide, women and girls are disproportionately affected by the lack of access to safe drinking water and toilets. Simavi therefore works with partners in Africa and Asia on projects that support local solutions for women and girls so that they gain access to water, a toilet and equal treatment.

‘Because the climate crisis is primarily a water crisis, and women and girls are among the hardest hit, it is essential to put women and girls at the center and provide them with the means to tackle the water crisis. This is Simavi's unique focus and approach, and what we have been working on in 2024.’ Says Simavi director Dieneke van der Wijk. ‘Together with the women and partners from our programmes, we made ourselves heard at climate conferences, at the United Nations, in the Netherlands and in the countries where we work.’

Figures, interviews and stories

Every year, we bundle stories from the countries where we work and the most important figures in an Impact Report. In doing so, we challenge ourselves to report the actual impact of our work on women and girls, and to bundle this together in a colorful report. That is why our annual report not only contains the most important facts and figures behind Simavi’s programmes, but also interviews, photo reports, infographics, and background articles. And above all, a lot of impact.
