The Supervisory Board of Simavi is pleased to announce the appointment of Dieneke van der Wijk as managing director, effective June 15. Dieneke van der Wijk will succeed Ariette Brouwer, who announced her departure from Simavi at an earlier stage.

Dieneke van der Wijk brings with her more than 25 years of experience in development cooperation, covering policy development, adaptive programme management, organisational transformation and operations. She has lived in several countries across Asia and Africa, working for the international development organisations Oxfam International, Oxfam Great Britain and Save the Children UK.

'We are pleased to have found an excellent successor', says Michiel de Wilde, chairman of the Supervisory Board. 'Dieneke has a great passion for realising positive change for marginalised people, specifically women and girls. Combined with her extensive experience in Africa and Asia, she is the right person to keep Simavi focussed on realising lasting impact.'

Under Dieneke van der Wijk’s leadership Simavi will also continue to pursue the ‘Shifting The Power’ process. Over time, this will put resources and decision-making power into the hands of local organisations, women and girls.
